Kendal Leisure Centre is on Burton Road in Kendal, run by Better (GLL), and it is the nearest leisure centre to Garsdale - about twenty-five minutes' drive away. It has a 25-metre main pool and a separate learner pool, with lane swimming, lessons and aqua classes, plus a sauna and steam room. The gym covers cardio and weight training, and there is a sports hall hosting badminton, basketball, football and pickleball, which has become a local favourite. The class timetable includes group cycle, body conditioning, yoga, Pilates, HIIT and circuits through the week, with popular over-50s sessions too.
The centre is on Burton Road on the south side of Kendal, about a mile from Oxenholme station and eight miles by dual carriageway from M6 junction 36. There is pay-and-display parking on site - three hours free for customers with a parking disc available from reception. Lockers require a £1 coin (refundable). It is a good wet-weather option if you are staying in the dale with children who need to burn off energy, or if you want a swim beyond the Sedbergh School pool's public sessions.
