Morecambe Beach

Morecambe beach is a dog-friendly stretch of sand and shingle at Marine Road East, Morecambe (LA4 5AH), about 45 minutes' drive from Garsdale. The beach has views across Morecambe Bay to the Lake District fells, and at low tide the sands stretch out for a long way. It is a different sort of day out from the Dales - flat, open and coastal - and it works well if you are staying in Garsdale with a dog and want a change from the fells.

The beach is off-lead friendly along most of its length, and there is a promenade with cafes and the famous Eric Morecambe statue. Morecambe Bay is dangerous for swimming and walking because of the quicksands and fast tides - stay on the hard sand near the promenade and do not venture out onto the sands without checking the tide times.
