Cotter Force

Cotter Force is a waterfall in the small valley of Cotterdale, on the road between Garsdale Head and Hawes. There is a parking area nearby and the walk to the falls is flat and well-laid, with a tidy pathway beside the river leading to a series of small cascades rather than a single high drop. It was sketched by the painter J.M.W. Turner, and is a quieter alternative to Hardraw Force or Cautley Spout, worth seeking out if you enjoy having a place to yourself. An easy walk to add to a day heading into Wensleydale, and a good option for anyone wanting a short, level stroll without much climbing.
