Jhoots Pharmacy was a pharmacy on Main Street in Sedbergh, at number 48-50. It closed without warning on 21 August 2025, citing a lack of a pharmacist, and the BBC reported that the closure left people in Sedbergh facing a ten-mile journey to the nearest pharmacy. The premises have since reopened as Allied Pharmacy, so Sedbergh has a pharmacy counter again on Main Street - the details in the box alongside are for the Allied Pharmacy now trading there.
If you need a pharmacy while staying in Garsdale, Allied Pharmacy in Sedbergh is the nearest, about fifteen minutes' drive west. Central Dales Pharmacy in Hawes is the alternative about twenty minutes' drive east, and pharmacies in Kendal cover out-of-hours. For minor ailments and over-the-counter medication, SPAR Sedbergh on Station Road sells a basic range. For prescriptions and urgent medicine, Westmorland General Hospital in Kendal has an Urgent Treatment Centre.
