The Haddock Paddock is a family-run fish and chip shop and cafe on Main Street in Sedbergh, doing fish and chips - fresh fish in a light crispy batter, fluffy chips with a crisp edge, and the portions that sort you out after a day on the Howgills. As well as the chip shop, the cafe side does sandwiches, toasties, paninis and jacket potatoes through the day, so it works for lunch as well as a chippy tea. It is one of Sedbergh's Book Cafes, with a small selection of themed books to browse while you wait. It is currently listed as temporarily closed, so check it is open before heading into Sedbergh specifically for it - Sedbergh Pizza up the street is the other takeaway option in town.
The takeaway side does phone orders, which is worth knowing if you are coming back late from a walk and want to pick up on the way. It sits at 67-69 Main Street, a few doors up from the Black Bull and the Smatt's Duo cafe.
