The Meat Hook is a family-run traditional artisan butchers shop in Sedbergh, and it was Cumbrian Butcher of the Year in 2023, which tells you a fair bit about the quality. Provenance and quality are the whole point of the place - they sell a wide range of local meats including home-reared lamb, and they do weekly essentials packs if you are self-catering and want to stock the freezer for a few days. The butchery counter is old school, and the staff know their cuts.
It sits at 71 Giles Road in Sedbergh, a short walk from the main street, and is well worth a stop on the way to one of our self-catering cottages if you want to cook properly while you are here.
